The Mother: Expecting a Baby

Posted by: dragonblogger    in Love Poems

The Mother: Expecting a Baby
So now I am pregnant, planned for yet still unexpected
I carry this baby a gift from my lover
I worry so much that all is well
My husband is supportive and for that I am grateful

Worries fill my mind, can I banish them?
Will my body be pretty after baby is born
Can I keep my husband happy and support a baby as well?
Will I miss the alone time, will we ever be together again?

I fear the pain of childbirth, the pain will be fierce
I have the support of my family for which I am grateful
It is still too soon, I don’t yet see the blessing
But I do feel its special, a gift in the making

I carry a child yet I feel no different yet
I am scared and excited, and it has only just begun
Will I be a good mother, will I have enough strength?
I feel that I will, but my worry remains.

The Father: Expecting a Baby

Posted by: dragonblogger    in Love Poems

The Father: Expecting a Baby
I am sitting alone pondering the uncertain
A new family member to now care for
Can I be supportive and keep mommy happy?
Can I be there enough to meet their needs?

A renewed strength surges through my veins
I rise up to the challenge, welcome its approach
I shall be there for both and with fountains of love
A mother so perfect, a baby equally so

My affairs put in order, financial burden assumed
My life will be strained, some grey hairs will sprout
The experience is worth it, the new family is coming
My wife is scared, and I must be strong

I will love her forever and ever
She carries my child an act so difficult
The least I can do is give her everything I can
A shoulder to cry on, a rub or a hug

The tale is anew and the story is brewing
Only a few weeks in and the feelings are not quite ripe
Soon time will tell, the feelings will sprout
Love will come plenty, I await the future.

Being a Father

Posted by: dragonblogger    in Love Poems

Being a Father
Setting up hopes and thinking up dreams
Holding his baby the proud father beams
Such a tiny creation the world still ahead
For now only changings and keeping baby fed
Will I be a good father will I teach baby right?
I wonder so much it costs me sleep at night

A few years pass the real trial begins
Teaching toddler right so he will commit no sins
Envisioning a future and hoping child will excel
The answers to my questions only time will tell
Reliving my childhood while playing with child
I bicycle my boy to the park the weather is mild

Children make mistakes acting their age
Calm, I am not always sometimes I do rage
Discipline is tough for any way hurts me too
When my child is bad what can I do?
As once baby turns ten I am proud to say
I have done more right than wrong up till this day

My child is smart and does well in school
He reads books a lot his mind is a tool
I encourage and praise but am also a critic
Trying to push without being too harsh is the trick
Sometimes I fail and can hurt his feelings
But my success helps him strive for his dreams

As the years pass in his teens is my son
His studies start slipping his focus is fun
I try as I may he has a will of his own
Punishment is futile soon he will be grown
But alas a new thread has come from the seam
Moving a way, my boy is putting distance between

I can only listen and give support when he is in a bind
My attentions are focused elsewhere but I still bear in mind
His future lied elsewhere but he has found success
He found his life partner in this world that’s a mess
I visit his wedding wishing I could do more
He seems happier now and success is coming for sure

It looks like I have done a good job as a dad
Though the distance between us sometimes leaves me sad
