Today’s poem is inspired by the recent earthquake tragedy in Italy, my sympathies to the families and friends of all those affected by the events. These 7 random words provided (in blue) were my muse for the poem today:

@coyotesqrl (quick), @jollything (protection), @SJohnson85 (Reprobate), @SurfCityJay (restitution), @jamiain (dismal), @stnmoon (busy), @filigreegirl (shaken)

Aftershock

A busy city night life
When the first shock comes
Punished as if a reprobate
Terror begins with an unknown fate

People pray for protection
From the thundering destruction
Stone, brick and mortal snapped
Some people crushed, others are trapped

The people shaken
Buildings broken
Lives are torn
Families hurting

Atrocity testing ones constitution
As people try to find restitution
For a dismal disaster that struck
Quick and merciless, such bad luck

Spirits will recover
As we help our brothers
We will rebuilt our fallen town
We will not be knocked down
