Today’s poem was partly inspired by the Pixar short film “Partly Cloudy” which played before UP, but mostly while writing it I imagined that if there is an afterlife and our father’s fathers are watching over us, I imagine they all gather together and watch their descendants like we watch football games, and the ancestors of horrific people like mass murderers or say Hitler would be alone in shame. This is the story told with today’s poem and it includes 20 random words (in blue) from the following twitter followers, which makes this the LARGEST random twitter word poem I have done to date as far as submitted words in a single poem.

@Esther_Silvera (ethereal), @anefallarme (highfalutin), @HollyJahangiri (radiance), @Rinari (fraternity), @SusanBerland (grandchildren), @rjleaman (fun), @RemBeatZ (sunshine), @MisterBinAZ (grumpy), @SpaceAgeSage (light), @stnmoon (listening), @StarMars (twilight), @jeremylewit (anomalous), @imjstsayin (outback), @PowerJourneys (pragmatic), @YOUEQUALLOVE (love), @johnjriewe (voluminous), @SurfCityJay (deep), @jollything (ominous), @JenaIsle (keratinization)

Angel Ancestors

Angels float on clouds and sunshine
fraternity of deep ethereal radiance
the voluminous cluster of ancestors having fun
listening and watching over grandchildren
as they love, flourish and grow
in the wild outback below

One anomalous ominous highfalutin grumpy angel sits
alone on a twilight cloud where no light shines
keratinization of his wings, a result of the decay
sorrow and pity are his only offspring
pragmatic descendants long since burned out
an unabridged family line of hate and shame
now nothing but hurt and pain
