In the Cards: Random Twitter Poem for Feb 2nd
In the Cards is a poem about some up and coming gambler, possibly poker player going against the seasoned veterans and winning. I envisioned a poker room at maybe a Texas Holdem Tournament at night and the words just fell into place. This poem was inspired by the 14 random words (in bold) provided by the following Twitter players:
@barzane (threatening), @williamm49 (temperature), @goodyniosi (enlightened), @technicallyeasy (study), @persianpoetess (Cerulean), @originalbadbele (replica), @davelucas (credentialed), @celestemj (consummate), @dvcaz (Schlafengehen), @msfitztx (favorable), @ibucketbot (Force), @iamthecoolnerd (voted), @lees_ah (Deuces, gamble)
Definitions:
Schlafengehen – German for “Going to Bed”
Cerulean - range of colors from deep blue, sky-blue, bright blue
In the Cards
Threatening temperature
like some voted force
consummate replica
of an enlightened study
A favorable gamble
like deuces played
credentialed humbled
with cerulean faces
It was in the cards
the irony of the pun
late evening concluded
Schlafengehen
