Emotionless

Indelible earthquake of tawdry love
spatiotemporal twisting contortionist bodies
incommodious affection a mere irritation
exasperation at the blizzard response
peculator of a once trusting heart
now nothing but icy supplemental lust
weary nostalgia where feeling existed
just a cold embrace, emotionless

Impossible management thundersnow confrontation
abject failure to instill blithe mitigation

An ominous leader with claims you cannot deny
he lays down the charges attempting to stupefy

heart ticking like an expired stopwatch
sweat beading from head to your crotch

multifarious embezzlement and grand extortion
judgement rendered of intergalactic proportion

they allocate a sentence, prompt termination
this career is now in permanent hibernation

hacking expectorate in a protest this way
Kleenex picked up as he bids you “Good Day”

you buzz out of the office for the last time
as you ponder the costs of your ways of crime

Kitten Hunts

A radish garden in Iona, where plant and dirt align
beetles no bigger than pistachios crawl, to nature’s grand design

Reflections in the eyes of an eager hunting kitten
mystery of finch and bug, looking to get bitten

Each X-factor critter more intriguing than the rest
worth a follow for a while, until he comes upon the nest

A shadows eclipse as he begins the silent crawl
fire of a frugal chase that risks ending in a sprawl

Shillelagh paws reaching for their tiny mark
a feline hunter, as deadly as a shark

Swooping in with shrieking calls and feathers flash
the startled kitty makes a splash

Defeated this time with wounded pride
he runs, to find a place to hide

Battered Dream

My dream as sweet as ripe succulent cantaloupe
almost within reach as I approached my peers
but a shock of scorn and loathing disappointment
my success judged by my omnipotent alabaster skin
some self-righteous pontiferous blues fraternity
whose Mithras sigil be nothing but a murky sump
a career solstice as hollow as a brittle coconut
cards held by ignorant resourceful pokeno bluffers
I turn tail, my spirits battered but not broken
my rising star shall shine again someday

Chanukah Elf

Uncompromising craftsmanship of a supernatural elf
wearing green denim, trying to concentrate in peace
the beautiful life size gingerbread house
human sized pieces cut by circular saw
grafted together by collagenous Jello

Doubtful looks with a glimmer of hope
a whirl of the crane as the roof top lifts
the structure crafted entirely from food
each piece assembled in chronological order
no lempira or dollar to cover a months worth of work

As the rooftop is laid gently and with great care
something went wrong with a measurement it seems
spontaneous kerfuffle as walls crack and crumble
with an audible sigh and grouchy demeanor, he wishes
to recant Christmas and become a Chanukah elf instead

Cowardly

Feckless humility and regret from Friday’s nightly stroll
a chillax serendipitous park travel migrated too rapidly
decent into an intricate disaster in mere moments it seemed
shadows fell around your footsteps with ominous intent
devoid of any heroic artifice, you scuttled and hid
like an ambiguous incognito tarantula from a dragon
fire of courage was nothing but a flickering candle
an attacker that may have not even existed that night
an action that speaks for your character forever
