Combating Sadness

Sadness is found in every hole
Where every void learns to grow
Hollow chambers ring with fears
Their purpose solely to bring you tears

Empty buckets filled with lead
You wash yourself in fire instead
Skin cleansed of yesterday’s guilt
Tomorrows sins worn like an old cloth quilt

Empty space filled in your heart
Misery and sorrow displayed like art
Apathy’s cousin is a more cunning breed
You cannot ride this out as you would a steed

One thing stands between you and land
A loving and warm helping hand
The hand is followed by a familiar face
This gesture then grounds you into place

The loving words that come next
Express yourself if you are vexed
Let your sadness out for me to see
We will heal ourselves you and me
