Friendship Reborn
A growing friendship tremulously lost
respect morphologically changes to inimical revenge
palimpsest of apologies crumbled in reply
guilt and anger continue to fester and ail him
crapulous behavior finally boils over
a face to face confrontation bound for trouble
hasty drive before parking in front of the home
a call to the constable only moments away
the door swings open, preparing for flying fists
instead something strikes and anger abates
an old friends eyes well with apologies
and like a candle flame snuffed out
friendship reborn from the ashes
