I Wish For A Fish

My 5 year old and I decided to create a kids poem together, and he volunteered to narrate it.  Let us know what you think.

I Wish For A Fish

Mommy, Daddy how I wish
For small little gold fish

One to keep in a bowl or jar
So he won’t swim very far

His colors can be gold or red
I can feed him pieces of bread

We can feed him goldfish food
And he will eat when in the mood

I think I shall name him chips
I watch as he opens and closes his lips

He swims up and gulps some air
I just enjoy sitting down to stare

Thank you for this fish
You have granted my little wish

This is sweet! I’m saving the link to it – I might make some artwork around it if it’s OK with you.

My daughter and I just listened to the wish for a fish, I think that this one two could be a kids book, maybe I can try to illustrate it for you and you can look,at the big pictures we draw and paint and embellish of your verse, your boy and you could then decide if your poem fish are better with our pictures to swim in, or worse!

Aaaw… heart warming poetry, I must say, indeed!

A kids poetry with an amazing ability to get smiles from any grown up. Nice work done by you and your lil’ guy there.

    Best wishes for 2009.

Haw! I enjoyed the recording – Thanks for sharing the experience. It reminded me of the kids here – back when they were kids.

Thanks, my son now who is 7 writes his own poems sometimes. He wrote a poetry book in school and I am asking him if he wants to contribute and share with my site. He is kind of shy and doesn’t like to share his drawings or writing to the public anymore like when he was younger. I won’t reprint anything of his unless he wants to share it.

No problem, he did a few more and some of his later ones he writes himself are more complex. He has our creative spirit.
