Since I am on vacation this week in Cabo, I asked my friend Damien Riley if he wanted to guest post a poem for my Poetry blog.  He provided me with this most interesting creation he put together.   Thank you Damien for contributing to my poetry blog.

If You Knew You Couldn’t Fail

By Damien Riley

If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you do?
Would you hop on a Greyhound and ride a new route?
Or would you stay home and just practice guitar?
Which hurt your fingers but you knew you’d go far.

If you knew you couldn’t fail, who would you know?
Would you speak to a star and say “Hidee Ho!”
Or would you talk more with the friends that you have
If you knew that your words would always make them glad.

If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you think?
Would you mix up the past and the future in sync?
Or would you think upward to heaven beyond
To a changed paradigm of new things that you “want.”

If you knew you couldn’t fail, where would you go?
To the sands of Tibet or the North Pole’s white snow?
Would you stay home alone with your kids or your spouse?
What would you say in an “I can’t fail” house?

And finally …

When you looked in the mirror: who would you you see?
If you knew you couldn’t fail then that’s who you’d be.
