You have a great eye for detail. I appreciate how you managed to give the feel of being there without being so verbose. As much as I love Tolkien, that always drove me crazy about his stuff...too many words. A skilled writer can paint the image just as completely, but in less words (which keeps the action going!). If this is what you knock out on a short flight...awesome. Are you planning on doing more? Great story. You have a great eye for detail. This reminded me of LOTR initially, then the character of Jack Sparrow entered my mind too. He was never the muscular brute and would have despised drawing his sword to defend himself.
