Losing Thought – Random Twitter Poem for March 27th

Today’s poem is about an elderly man in some sort of hospice or facility at the edge between reality and dementia and is a very sad poem. It reminded me a little of the movie “The Notebook” when I wrote it. Thanks to the following people on twitter for the 7 random words (in blue) today:
@kyllyan (gossamer), @stnmoon (Forget), @SurfCityJay (bracket), @coyotesqrl (construction), @kikolani (sensitivity), @cheth (spam), @filigreegirl (cameo)
Losing Thought
Thoughts tangled like a gossamer weave
Struggling not to forget her again
Each memory a laboring construction
False memories like email spam
Make the task even harder
Your barely clear thoughts are
Held together by a weakening bracketWas she your daughter or your wife?
Her sensitivity would indicate the latter
Was this a hello or a goodbye?
Like a star playing a cameo in a movie
She was in your day for a brief moment
And then she was goneWould you remember her tomorrow?
Would she ever come back?
Did she say she would?
What did she say her name was?
For now you remember though
You remember how much you loved her-Poem by Dragon Blogger

That was very touching… it does remind me a bit of The Notebook, a movie that I adored, as my grandmother suffered from something between Parkinson’s and dementia. Some days, she would think I was my mom, others she would know who I was, and then there were a few where she didn’t admit it, but she didn’t know who I was at all aside from a friendly stranger.

Great poem. Dementia is really a tough thing to see in a relative.
