Our Boston Terrier
- Light Poems
-
In honor of our beloved dog who had to be put to sleep after his health was too badly impacted by constant violent seizures, I wrote this poem to honor his memory to our family. This was the best dog and family friend anyone could ask for.

Our Boston Terrier
A striped white head
On brindle colored body
Majestic stance of a statue
Energy level of the godsYou ran through our hearts
You ran through our soul
A child not of human flesh and bone
But of our spirit and familyA smile graced your face
A playful bark every day
You are the joy of our home
You bring smiles every dayYou bring so much love
Tender heart care too much
Even when ill you try to comfort
You deserve the comfort nowSweet, Tender dog of ours
May you find peace in the end
You deserve to run fields
And chase lizards forever in timeThank you for the memories
And sharing our warm home
Each time you had an accident
Perhaps we expected too muchEight years was surely not enough
Your friendship and companionship too short
You were the best friend on four legs ever
You were like another child to usDedicated To Our Loving Boston Terrier: Gouda Emmenthaler Germino

So sorry to hear of your loss. We had to put down a Boston for the same reason (but she was older, nearly 15). Bostons are such smart, funny, loving companions and friends! Wishing you peace in your good memories of Gouda.
I always thought terriers had long hair? As a kid we had a caren-tarrier.

Thank you.
Boston’s are short haired breeds.
I’m sorry for your loss. I’m a Boston Terrier foster mom who has completely fallen in love with the breed. I can’t imagine how hard this is for you and I’m not looking forward to it myself. Aren’t they just the best dogs in the world?
I hope you’ll consider adoption if you get another down the road. Rescue Bostons are wonderful companions and you would be doing a great thing by giving one a home.
We have a 2nd Boston Terrier (Porky who is 1 year old) and we will likely adopt another Boston in the near future when the wound heals. My wife is always on the Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue website looking for new Bostons up for adoption.
If your dog was any cuter it would be illegal!!

Thank you
this poem is great. I had a dog die on me about four years ago and I haven’t had another dog since. I do plan on getting another one however once I have to time.
I’m so sorry for your loss and know how you feel. I had a beloved chocolate lab that was a member of our family and it was so hard to let him go. He’s been gone almost 7 years now and I still think of him often and smile. You can take comfort in the fact that you were lucky to have such a wonderful family pet! Be blessed in that.

Thanks for the sympathies, it is hard to lose pets, they are members of our family.
We also have a brindle Boston Terrier. His name is Bolt. He’s just over 2 and we’ve had him for a bit over a year. I can’t imagine life without him and I’m so sorry for your loss. Some day, our time will come when we’ll have to part and I hope that happy memories of him tearing around in the backyard, chasing cats and playing fetch will help to comfort me as I’m fairly sure my heart will be broken. I too work in IT, so I feel a kinship with you. Beautiful poem.
Bolt is such a great name, (named after the Disney Movie?) We have a 2nd Boston and are hoping another will find its way into our family when the time is right.
