Poem: Not Today

Advertise with IZEA Media

A dark poem about a train out of control and an engineer desperate to save it in time only to come up short.  Poem was partially inspired by maybe the movie Unstoppable (and The Polar Express) a little.

Not Today

Cursing this linchpin bullshit

while knocking over a huge-ass latte

train accelerated to badass speed

passengers paralyzing fear and uncertainty

desperate to defy the limitations

a mechanical monstrosity of resistance

excuses run out when the train derails

no heroes were made this day

Very powerful imagery, I can almost see the tracks and hear the sound of the train moving. I like the way you combine elegant metaphors with profanities.

Ireland Wanderer Thank you, I tried to capture the urgency and frantic frustration of the event.
