Wounded Lion

A Great Lion once
prowled throughout
all the land.

Brazen was his
compassion but terrible
was his ambitious
hand.

Some praised the
liberation this mighty
beast had brought.

Others cursed his
looming shadow and
wished his empire
gone.

Long did his rule
prevail and long
did his star shone
bright.

Cloudy became his
hemisphere with
foul company and
lies.

Betrayed was the
Great Lion and
wounded was his
paw.

Skulking in the
dark he yearns
for the resurrection
of law.
