Coming Out Of Your Cocoon

You simple and sanguine little creature
Spending your days growing rotund
Feasting from the flora of the world
Foraging and finding the food yourself
For there is no pie maker to make life easy

When you are gorged to completion
And can swallow no more
You wrap yourself in this silk
This body is now superfluous
And you prepare for your metamorphosis

Barely a whisper from the silk that splits
And you emerge from your cocoon at last
All those around you are stunned to silence
By such colorful and resplendent wings
Your new life begins and you never look back
