Solar Flare – Random Twitter Poem for July 13th

Today’s poem was inspired by the words provided and for some reason the movie “Knowing” which I just saw last week popped into my head and influenced the poem. It is a dark end of the world poem and includes 16 random words (in blue) provided my the following twitter followers:
@Zorlone (wordplay), @JenaIsle (planktons), @StarMars (grubby), @dezertsnow (sky), @ryjr (eclipse), @houseofpuroy (devastation), @Jan_Geronimo (gratitude), @solitarypanda (ignoramus), @anefallarme (envious), @shemah (morale), @R_Arblaster (downsizing), @coffeetablepoet (errant), @KathrynVercillo (morning), @petergan (Feline), @daNanner (overheated), @denthewise (random)Solar Flare
A rumbling sound like a feline purr
a portent told from the eclipse in the sky
random act of the cosmos, brings devastation
an errant punishment from the universe
as if it were downsizing our world
holy pundits spouting wordplay
desperate for a higher answer
morale deteriorates rapidly
humanities last moments spent
being envious of the ignoramus
grubby hands thrown up in gratitude
for lives that near their end
on this final dark morning
a solar flare scours the Earth
overheated oceans steam
boiling fish and planktons
the cleansing ends in minutes
a barren world, all that remains-Poem by Dragon Blogger

Another great poem
I have yet to see you say something like “you know, I just don’t like this one that much”
continually impressed by how you not only make everything fit together, but make sense!

I can see the picture vividly depicted by this short poem. Bull’s eye! Thanks for using the word aptly. Way to go!

Definitely from the movie! Nicely done with the random words. Very cool! Not that the Earth was destroyed, but you harmoniously synthesized the words together.

Justine, how you can pull this off time and again is bewildering. With no restrictions, – all words that I know at my command – I’m still befuddled how to proceed writing a simple line of poetry. What more if I’d be circumscribed with a list of words! Such talent.
If my life depended on it, I can’t figure out how to weave in “downsizing,” “plankton,” and “ignoramus.” Okay, maybe I have a monster set of self-limiting beliefs. I had better shut up now.
Thanks. This is a delightful rendition of darkness and extinction of life as we know it.

Thank you, as mentioned if you saw the movie “Knowing” I pretty much captured the movie to the T with one poem. I really enjoy writing poems from random words, it comes easier to me than trying to think of a poem on my own, kind of like “forced” inspiration.
Thanks Z
Thank you, this one so many words fit together like Sky, Eclipse, Devastation, it was kind of easy.
I really don’t know how you can do this Justine, getting non-related words, and under time constraints at that!
now, I want to see the movie!

Hi, Dragon Blogger. Thanks for using “sky”.
The resulting poem is a nice one which does not hint of any random words being haphazardly bound together by glue. It turned out as if all the words have been thoughtfully chosen and precisely crafted not unlike every single man-made block in a magnificent pyramid of old.
