The Spoon

The Spoon
Whether icy cold or blisteringly hot
You are plunged into clear or murky depths
You are spun wildly your gleaming leg above the surface
Slowly tapered you drink and come afloat
Holding what you have tasted, you are summoned to me
Your prize then is siphoned, and you are cast again
Reeling in the liquid time and time again
Until satiation is reached, then you are released
Only to be called again.

The Fork

The Fork
How the light gleams off that metal skin,
Your sharp tips ready to dive into flesh,
Even as you taste the meat you’re moving,
Slowly and steadily pulling your victim to me,
You are under my control your victim taken,
And as I feast upon what you have staked,
You are forced to seek another morsel,
This pattern repeats, for you time is endless.
But once I am done you are cast away,
Ready to be used another day.

Culinary Disaster – Random Twitter Poem for July 15th

twitter poems
15 Jul 2009

Today’s random twitter poem is about a chef presenting a creation that was supposed to bring him fame and greatness, only to realize he made the dish too spicy and instead was embarrassed. This poem inspired by the 11 random words (in blue) provided by my twitter followers below:

@ryjr (immortality), @KathrynVercillo (miscellaneous), @DVDsnapshot (crocodile), @CelebritiCat (sybaritic), @numbnuggets (diaphoresis), @shemah (gourmet), @jeremylewit (trenchant), @AnnEvanston (eucalyptus), @filigreegirl (disgruntled), @dreamsvapor (trepid), @katheesue (predicament)

Culinary Disaster

What was supposed to have sybaritic flavor
a trenchant gourmet treat for all to savor
that would bring immortality to your cuisine
instead became as toxic to your career
as a eucalyptus leaf is to ingest
trepid disappointment leaving you angrier
than a disgruntled crocodile now
as customers suffer from diaphoresis
from the multitude of miscellaneous peppers
a predicament, now causing their mouths to gape
as they start demanding water and drinks
you realize your dish was too spicy
and embarrassment and shame
are your lasting friend
