Troubled Sleep

Vestigial dreams like drunken pulp
opaque ghostly sunflower roots deep
left stricken with a maniacal yearning
plethora of superfluous visions exhort
thoughts explained by no known syllogism
haphazardly infecting your slumber
as if collaborated in this conundrum
with nightmares received as payment
no balmy mood to greet your awakening
indefatigable schlemiel with restless sleep
insipid despondency worn like a chain
materialistic worries met with reality
emotions as toxic as a cashew nut shell
just another night of troubled sleep

Filtering Dreams

Messages, voices, visions unite
my dark conscious come to life
etching fires behind my eyes
a living legend told through lies

A mark upon a person’s past
haunting for an unknown future
a good deed rewarded twice fold
through all the years we are told

A lovers kiss in a swollen seed
a gentle tree blooming fruit
a secret holding a candle light
kept in the darkness of the night

Jungle Dream

Flabbergasted by nonsensical chirping
no Vegas city noises found in the surreal
fragrant lignaloes permeating the air
surreptitious sunlight filtered by leaves
acting as an inconspicuously natural sunscreen

At first a subtle careen starts to overtake you
then a thundering crash that would rival a trebuchet
somnambulism ever so subtle, apparently struck
you pick yourself up, slightly embarrassed
and proceed to work at your monetary day job
