Ghost Whispers

Like a hollow shell
a husk cast from a dead seed
my ghost whispers her name

For the love we once had
a pair of ethereal tears
a phantom heart that cannot break
my ghost whispers her name

The wrongs I have done
the damned rights I have wronged
eternal torment is my comfort
and my ghost whispers her name

Rising Spirits – Random Twitter Poem for October 2nd

twitter poems
02 Oct 2009

Rising Spirits is a haunting poem that is inspired by the word ghosts today, it was a fitting theme for October. Today’s poem included a record tying 21 submitted words (in blue) (I did allow 2 people to submit multiple words as a rare exception to my 1 word per person rule). Thanks to the following players:
@coffeetablepoet (pedantic, zealous, frenetic, besotted, felicity), @Jemfyr (Liar, Mask), @cjweb (subsequent), @concisionflux (abscissa), @conradtheart (duckling), @Latsyrc728 (shampoo), @RemBeatZ (debit), @Chrissyisms (chug), @Myinerchld (ukelele), @SurfCityJay (cryogenic), @purple_froggy (ghosts), @kathysperlbell (consignment), @hectica (intellectually), @lejonprime (sesquicentennial), @TrinaMb (safety), brownies1 (Impasse)

Rising Spirits

Rising sesquicentennial zealous ghosts
intellectually frenetic pedantic spirits
cold cryogenic visages projecting fear
safety nothing more than a besotted mask

Haunting paths having no known abscissa
one wanders aimlessly over earthen plots
like a ghastly duckling lost in a pond
the graveyard their last debit consignment

Subsequent haunting noises assault the senses
from silent whispers or a sharp cracking chug
to the plucking of ethereal ukelele strings
madness eavesdropping just a moment away

Forever pursuing an unattainable felicity
ragged forms with wild tangled hair echoing
stark contrast to the shampoo like cleanliness
of the granite markers that are their home

From jilted lovers to scorned saints
a savage murderer to the most vile liar
the restless seek the impasse of redemption
and will soon fade away to rise again
