Today’s random poem was greatly inspired by Anne Rice’s works, and her books have always had a place in my mind. Creating such stunning imagery, the words today just fit for me to create a little story and a tribute to her creations. The Vampire and Me
I invited him this dark and stormy night
We sat at round oak table discussing our fate
My fate was in my hands and this choice was mine
My life was about to take a curve with no turn back
Then the creature once of Turkish descent spoke
I could feel his voice resonate in my mind
Are you sure you dare choose this life?
There is no turning back from this fate
Your former life must be completely erasable
Nobody can know you anymore and you will be dead
Rising again in undeath to forever live in darkness
We shall reciprocate this gift of blood if you still choose
I agreed once again, I had made my choice
The price was small compared to the power of immortality
The vampire smiled at me and rising from his chair
He towered over me like a great undead behemoth
With a movement so fast I caught nothing but a blur
I felt a prick upon my neck sending chills up my spine
The wound at first I thought superficial and small
Then I noticed how wrong I really was
Blood sprayed the nearby table in a torrential downpour
The polished schist floor collecting dots of rouge
I would have to act quickly or I would exsanguinate
The vampire watched silently with nothing but a smile
I collapsed then my knees buckling beneath me
Why do I feel as if I had been tricked
My vision became fuzzy the vampire was moving toward me
I heard but one word echo from his lips
Now bite and drink and become one with me
My last action was to sink my teeth and grip
Icy cold flesh feeling like rubber between my lips
Thick black blood so cold it burned my throat
But I drank with the force and fury of my final act
Choking and wanting to vomit I held it down
Then my body went slack and my head hit the floor
My vision blacked out and I was sure I was no more
A moment later my dining room was before me
Not a trace of blood or a disheveled chair at all
I sat at a table with a pen in my hand a book under my gaze
Scribbled notes upon the pages and a title above the rest
