Childrens Book: The Angry Ogre

Kid Stories, Short Stories
15 Nov 2009

This is the third childrens book I wrote for my first grade son to read and it incorporates many of the words he is learning how to read and spell in school. I am trying to write one new book a week to continue to further his interest in reading. He tends to like the Fantasy and Sword and Sorcery genre as I did as a kid.

ogre

The Angry Ogre

cave

An angry over lived in a far away cave.

The people were scared of his great temper.

townspeople

One day a curious boy went missing from his house.

He went to meet the ogre and see for himself why he was so angry.

cave

The boy traveled alone for many hours and arrived at the ogre’s cave.

A loud roar was heard from inside the cave entrance.

ogre3

The ogre saw the boy when he entered the cave.

The lone ogre shouted “You will be eaten for coming here”

ogre2

The boy who was not afraid asked the ogre “Why are you so angry, you pout like a baby?”

ogreback

“Well, I have a huge thorn in my back and cannot get it out” roared the ogre

“I will help you” said the boy and then he said “lay down”

ogrehappy

The boy used all of his strength to pull the large thorn from the Ogre’s back.

When the thorn finally was pulled out the Ogre shouted “Thank you, the pain is gone”

The Ogre told the boy that he would not be angry anymore.

With that the boy led the Ogre back to the town where the men could see for themselves.

peopleogre

The town people did not run and instead welcomed the Ogre.

The Ogre was no longer angry and was now a friend to the town.

Childrens Story: The Pixie

Kid Stories, Short Stories
31 Oct 2009

My son is in first grade and starting to read little pamphlet type books for class, I thought I would start creating my own books for him to read, simple books containing 2 sentences per page with picture on each page and no more than four or five pages.  These miniature books take about 5-8 minutes for him to read and are more interesting than most of the books he brings home to read.  I incorporate the words he is learning in school into the stories to help reinforce the words he is supposed to memorize.

This story is titled “The Pixie”

pixie1

The Pixie

pixie2

The Pixie flew near the sea.

Cold wind blew through her wings.

An orc was waiting for her.

The orc was about to charge.

pixiefire

The pixie cast a magic spell.

Cool magic bolts shot from her hand.

orchurt

The Orc was hit in the back

The Orc ran away scared.

The Pixie was safe at last.

The Pixie then took a bath in the sea.
