The word Museum and the fact that I want to take my kids to see the Night at the Museum sequal this weekend prompted me to write a poem that is my take on Night at the Museum. Thanks to the following people on twitter for providing the 13 random words (in blue) for today’s poem:

@ayakobing (breeze), @R_Arblaster (contemporary), @filigreegirl (Fabergé), @santasdevil (grasshopper), @jollything (Onomatopoeia), @durtbagz (whey), @anefallarme (insecurities), @purplefrogcat (museum), @SurfCityJay (friends), @Zorlone (sirloin), @Owl311 (heartbeat), @ambassador1O1 (surfing), @shellartistree (hummingbird)

Night At The Museum

A familiar contemporary breeze tickles the neck
a uniformed man drops his whey protein shake in shock
heartbeat fluttering like a hummingbird in his chest
the museum guard’s insecurities etched on his face
only sound an onomatopoeia escaping from his lips

Mummies, statues, cowboys and Romans
as old friends reunite, rising from crates
powers of an ornate golden tablet
rivaling any fashioned by Fabergé

With the agility of a grasshopper
or a dolphin surfing the ocean waves
the guard runs in stark terror
not wanting to be a sirloin meal
to the skeletal Tyrannasaurus chasing him
