Reflections on a Plane

Alone I sit

An Island in the sky

Ocean of sky around us

Waves of clouds roll

I reflect

Has man conquered the air

The sea is at our command

A species flies without wings

On this I ponder

And reflect

What is to come from man

What will be our greatest goals

Time bent around our will

Or energies wasted on fossil fuels

I reflect

What is our goal as a species?

To what end is innovation?

Are we in this race together?

Why do we all fight separately?

The Keepers

One quick gesture and you know my meaning
a goodbye is too painful to acknowledge
a vow to be each others keepers
keepers of our hearts

A quick trip and a long departure
we can barely stand to see
a quick vow and blessed gesture
keep each other in our hearts

Gone from each others sights for a time
though we are parted, we don’t despair
because we are the keepers
keepers of our hearts

I was inspired to write this poem after seeing another image on Beltran Studios, and decided to incorporate it here.

Curious Eyes

Whose eyes stare at me
With wild untamed curiosity

A child’s look innocent and sweet
A puppies look anticipating a treat

Is that a glimpse of sorrow I see
Or are you trying to read my destiny

Curious eyes what are you trying to say?
Maybe you are inviting me to play

Sad little eyes, show me a sign
What do you want, why do you pine?

For now I can just sit and think
That maybe you are asking for a drink

This poem just sprung into my head while in a car ride last weekend, I typed it up on my blackberry (my wife was driving) and this picture seemed to fit the poem.
