No More Sleep is a poem about someone suffering through a recurring nightmare that haunts them. The person imagined in this poem is someone of fame or celebrity status where there nightmare is being betrayed and somehow that celebrity attacked or cut out from under them. No More Sleep

Bewilderment of a sleep sequel
waning of some diva forgotten nightmare
ascendant fame and popularity attacked
regretful emotions embellish wickedly
secret letters but false plagiarism
the careful calibration of a deceiver
seeking to eviscerate your life
With a savagely rude force of will
you awaken with hardihood battered
tears thick like Vaseline phlegm
tearing open a sachet of tissues
as you seek to cleanse wicked dreams
with a detergent of positive thoughts
no more sleep will come tonight

Troubled Sleep

Vestigial dreams like drunken pulp
opaque ghostly sunflower roots deep
left stricken with a maniacal yearning
plethora of superfluous visions exhort
thoughts explained by no known syllogism
haphazardly infecting your slumber
as if collaborated in this conundrum
with nightmares received as payment
no balmy mood to greet your awakening
indefatigable schlemiel with restless sleep
insipid despondency worn like a chain
materialistic worries met with reality
emotions as toxic as a cashew nut shell
just another night of troubled sleep
