Men And Gods

Men And Gods

Living beings striking fear
Terrorize those who live here
Fighting for the gods we claim
Others living life in shame

Morals are found written in stone
Lies are told, we each are shown
Faceless beings worshipped abroad
Some would say are just a fraud

Some living life to the fullest
Others deemed the absolute cruelest
Poorest people are the meek
Strongest people really are weak

Man is mortal and that is the truth
Look at the bloodshed if you need the proof
Men are not gods, gods are men
We rule with the sword and not the pen

Random Twitter Poem For February 6th

twitter poems
06 Feb 2009

Today’s poem was inspired by the random word windmill that was provided and tells a tale of a windmill being destroyed by a storm.  Thanks to the following people for the 11 random words (in blue) provided:

@Sweetnote (penance), @lejonprime (Victuals), @azredneck (blender), @DavidMercury (windmill), @infohwyman (formulate), @chercroppin23 (friendship), @WebBetty (blustery), @jollything (scream), @darksaturn7 (bambi), @wizzardsblog (statistical), @SurfCityJay (project)

The Fallen Windmill

Scream of the wind howling in your ears
A friendship forged between cloud and sky
The windmill stands, a blender of air
Sensing something dangerous about to occur
Trying to formulate conclusions on what happens next

Suddenly struck with a brilliant flash
As if it were victuals for the energy beast
Blustery sound deafening for miles
Stone and steel buckle and fall
Penance paid for stirring the sky

Lightning strikes, it is a statistical fact
Yet as the crumbled ruined structure falls
A deer resembling Bambi scurries away from falling rock
An ancient construction project comes to an end
A sigh escapes your lips as you just watch

Random Twitter Poem For February 5th

Light Poems, twitter poems
05 Feb 2009

Today’s twitter poem contained 13 words that were so random that I didn’t know if I would come up with a theme, but as I sat there staring at the words I started to imagine kids playing in a snow covered playground. I started to see the words fit into the poem to describe kids at play and I just started writing. This poem is the result. Thanks to the following twitter friends who send me the random words (in blue):

@WebBetty (reprehensible), @DavidMercury (flourish), @wizzardsblog (merlot), @coyotesqrl (luxuriate), @Jan_Geronimo (sandbox), @MesaAzHomes (plethora), @kar314 (snowflake), @Miragi (orgasmic), @or1gb1u3 (monkey), @Dr_Dalek (eviscerate), @blm03 (excited), @SurfCityJay (usability), @darksaturn7 (parachute)

Winter Child’s Play

Playground seeming magical and enchanting to all
Excited kids luxuriate in this constant snowfall

A snowflake falling and caught by a tongue
Orgasmic screams heard, from children so young

Merlot colored truck burrowing through snow
Aura of laughter creating a surreal glow

Sandbox covered in powdered white stars
Glove wearing hands swinging from monkey bars

A fake sword from its scabbard released
To eviscerate some unseen imaginary beast

A plethora of games and creative creations
The wonder of many children’s imaginations

A frozen swing whose usability should be in question
Kids jumping off with their comical parachute impressions

The only reprehensible act an occasional snow ball
Nothing mean enough that would lead to a brawl

Laughter will flourish for many more hours
Then all will go home and take nice hot showers

Random Twitter Poem For February 4th

twitter poems
04 Feb 2009

Today’s random twitter poem had a foreboding dark theme and told a story of a captive who finally breaks against his or her assailant.  Deliberately leaving the person and attacker ambiguous this could be a woman, man and the attacker could be human or non-human depending on whatever scenario your mind crafts from this poem.  Thanks to the following twitter followers for providing the 10 random words today (in blue):

@reginasuniverse (defiance), @wkossen (Wacko), @SurfCityJay (resume), @coyotesqrl (deviant), @jamiain (pickled), @uzziemom (sad), @Jan_Geronimo (thighs), @VOTS_Roads (spring), @BlazingMinds (inbox), @wizzardsblog (miniscule)

Prisoner

The unfathomable sad and simple truth
Held in containment like a pickled egg
Against your will shackled to a bed
Torture only to resume time and time again
By a twisted deviant wacko with a sadistic game
Scars marking your thighs like vicious trophies

Rising in defiance for the last time
You spring into action against this monster
Elbow striking your assailants throat
Knee finding a home in its belly
Your onslaught unrelenting your intent is clear
Kill or be forced to endure this endless cycle

Striking your fists more times than spam in an email inbox
Miniscule droplets of blood splattering the wall and floor
Your attackers face an unrecognizable pulp in moments
Your fingers wrap around its throat in one final gesture
A lifeless struggle and your heart lifts
Keys found and chains drop to the ground

You have fought and become free

Random Twitter Poem For February 3rd

twitter poems
03 Feb 2009

Today’s random poem is a typical variation of the Boy meets Girl poem and was crafted by the 9 random words (in blue) provided by my twitter followers (butcher, deer, churn, lattice all helped my theme develop).  Thanks to:

@coyotesqrl (valley), @Dr_Dalek (lattice), @lejonprime (churn), @azredneck (deer), @Jan_Geronimo (butcher), @reginasuniverse (optimistic), @jamiain (annoying), @howelegant (Pontification), @Miragi (vapid)

The Butcher And The Baker

Carving meat from a fresh caught deer
A simple butcher who lives quite near

To a beautiful baker down the street
Whom he has always wanted to meet

Feeling optimistic that today is his day
Over to her bakery he decides to make his way

He steps through the door, feeling very shy
While she works finishing lattice topping on a pie

It starts with a greeting followed by small talk
Then later that evening the take a brisk walk

At first he thought she might find him annoying
But his company he learned, she was enjoying

Soon dividing his time between his butcher shop
And taking time to help her churn butter on top

Some people gossip about them with pontification
Others look upon the new couple with simple adoration

He brought forth all the courage he can muster
Now his life no longer vapid and lacking luster

In this valley town now, just down this simple street
Happiness is theirs both and their lives feel complete
