Holiday Crisis
The holiday food prepared and ready
a restful sleep lost, your nerves unsteadyThe morning reeks of impending doom
a rotten menagerie like stinky perfumeA holiday crisis with no time to spare
the food ruined and nothing to shareWith two days left and no time to waste
you run to the store with the greatest of hasteYou find a new fridge with high cooling power
and it can be quickly installed within an houryour holiday saved with a lucky break
as you start all over and remake the cake-Poem by Justin Germino
This poem inspired by an issue I had last year where my refrigerator overheated right before Christmas and spoiled all of the food in my fridge. I had to quickly look at shopping deals at all the local retailers just two days before Christmas and hope I could find a new fridge and have it delivered same day or next day.
I did compare shopping prices at several local stores and finally settled on a Whirlpool fridge and a store that could deliver the next day, so my holiday crisis was averted last year. Though I must admit this wouldn’t be as big a problem if I would have invested some time in looking at freezers I could have quickly transferred my food from my fridge to a freezer and not lost all of those groceries, but alas I didn’t have a backup.

Strange Little Mouse – Random Twitter Poem for September 18th

Strange Little Mouse is a tale about finding a small critter in the backyard and was inspired by the word mouse and erinaceous (which means hedgehog family). Thanks for the 9 random words (in blue) provided by the people who played the twitter poetry game today:
@rockalong (magnetism), @Jemfyr (Sparta), @purple_froggy (pencil), @AnnEvanston (bumblebee), @RemBeatZ (erinaceous), @purplefrogcat (mouse), @concisionflux (chatoyant), @SurfCityJay (acquisition), @manitisle (sincerity)Strange Little Mouse
One day as a child, I was on a mission
to bring home a most unique acquisitionHe was no bigger than a bumblebee
digging in roots, around my treeAppearing as an erinaceous like mouse
I brought him home inside my houseAs small as he was inside my home
it must have felt like Sparta or RomeA playful critter he was, he kept nibbling
fancying and biting at my new chatoyant ringMagnetism of food, finally getting him still
I measured him against the length of a pencilThough this story seems a slight unreality
It is told with truth and pure sincerity-Poem by Dragon Blogger

Twisted Creatures
What are these twisted creatures
With many limbs and creepy featuresThey dance along the ground at night
Giving humans quite a frightSpiders, scorpions and crickets too
Shades of red, brown and even blueNight time critters scattered around
While humans are sleeping safe and soundWhy do most people reel in revulsion
At these creatures, like a compulsionThrough nature our purpose connects
With these simple little insects-poem by Dragon Blogger

The Box – A New Original Poem by Dragon Blogger

The Box
Trapped inside a white prize
Filled with hope, filled with lies
Morning dreams and midnight fables
All within a box without labelsListing contents as old as time
Colored writing red, blue and lime
A borrowers past and a lenders pain
A husbands deeds but a drying stainCaptured spirit and bottled fears
Unfiltered love and endless tears
A future of gold, a past that stings
A family and a house, a pair of wingsAll these things buried nice deep
For demons of the past to keep
All will be found in the end
When you realize its all a godsend-Poem by Dragon Blogger
