Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

With the words I was provided today my mind went immediately to thinking about a Pizza party.  Today’s poem was based off of 9 random words (highlighted in blue) and provided to me by followers on twitter who play my random poem game every weekday.

Thanks to the following people and their words:
@wizard1974uk (marathon), @SurfCityJay (ethics), @lejonprime (kazoo),@azredneck (pizza), @peteej (spatula), @jlp4u3 (prozac), @izealove (kerfuffle), @kcarruthers (verdant), @summerbreeze80 (saliva)

I still need your vote on BlogNetAwards, if you like my poetry or you play my poem game, consider voting me Best Poetry Blog.

The Pizza Shop

Kids are excited by the Pizza Man
Uniform on and a hat on his head
Shoes on his feet, a spatula in his hand
Dough prepared but not to make bread

A kerfuffle unsettles the cheese
Due to Pepperoni stacked on top
Kids imploring “More toppings please”
The oven door closes with a plop

The party a cure for a mood that is blue
More potent than any prozac
One child runs amuck, another plays a kazoo
One applause standing next to Jack

The golden brown pie emerges from the oven
Saliva runs freely as we watch this display
Our tummies are ready for some lovin’
Kids enjoying this most wonderful day

Vibrant verdant peppers adorning the tops
Tables are set and pies lay face up
Gooey Cheese bubbles, sizzles then pops
Each plate adorned with a fork and a cup

A marathon ensues, who can eat the most food
Rushing over dodging kids with a shuffle
The last piece remains drawing a feud
Parents use ethics to solve this scuffle

The shortest straw shall win the last piece
A winner is chosen the rest stand in awe
The slice is lifted and dripping with grease
Last bite is gone when it enters the kids jaw

A Life That’s Changed

A miracle was witnessed an ordinary life changed
This man once a laywer in bitter turmoil
A personal life falling to pieces and shame
Putting away unscrupulous criminals was always his purpose

This trial jarred the man for some reason
A monster so vile he was sentenced to death
The verdict was just yet the lawyer felt hollow
Had he not served the people and the law?

Was He Tired of justice being served
At the expense of a piece of his soul
He felt at the end of his rope and his game
But what happened that day would mystify him

Wandering a different path when leaving the courtroom
Something special would happen this very day
The man passed an ancient church door ajar
Maybe he was seeking hope or forgiveness

Whatever drove him to veer his course
He would tell you it was his fate
A wave of excitement started to creep over him
He felt alive and vibrant and hyper inside

He opened the door and there sat an altar
Carved in marble and dressed in gold
Light trickled in from stained glass windows
A single beam highlighting a silver goblet

So he ran to the goblet a fire burning inside
Lifting it to his lips he drank the water
The taste of his soul cleansing was delicious
His mind wiped of doubt, fear and guilt

No more does he feel this way, his mind is free
Like a gastropod emerging from its shell
He steps out of his old way of life
Like disrobing from soiled clothing

So begins a new chapter in this man’s life
It beings by studying an ancient tome
Dedicating ones life to become a friar
And achieve bliss through understanding god

He had become a dilettante in the pursuits of faith
And when One year was passed spent in silent pursuit
He spoke for the first time at his jubilee
Harmony is found my soul is clean he declared

Those around him bore friendly smiles
Brother, Sisters and Friends to all
He lived his life free the rest of his days
Never looking back on the courtroom’s call

The Vampire and Me

I invited him this dark and stormy night
We sat at round oak table discussing our fate
My fate was in my hands and this choice was mine
My life was about to take a curve with no turn back

Then the creature once of Turkish descent spoke
I could feel his voice resonate in my mind
Are you sure you dare choose this life?
There is no turning back from this fate

Your former life must be completely erasable
Nobody can know you anymore and you will be dead
Rising again in undeath to forever live in darkness
We shall reciprocate this gift of blood if you still choose

I agreed once again, I had made my choice
The price was small compared to the power of immortality
The vampire smiled at me and rising from his chair
He towered over me like a great undead behemoth

With a movement so fast I caught nothing but a blur
I felt a prick upon my neck sending chills up my spine
The wound at first I thought superficial and small
Then I noticed how wrong I really was

Blood sprayed the nearby table in a torrential downpour
The polished schist floor collecting dots of rouge
I would have to act quickly or I would exsanguinate
The vampire watched silently with nothing but a smile

I collapsed then my knees buckling beneath me
Why do I feel as if I had been tricked
My vision became fuzzy the vampire was moving toward me
I heard but one word echo from his lips

Now bite and drink and become one with me
My last action was to sink my teeth and grip
Icy cold flesh feeling like rubber between my lips
Thick black blood so cold it burned my throat

But I drank with the force and fury of my final act
Choking and wanting to vomit I held it down
Then my body went slack and my head hit the floor
My vision blacked out and I was sure I was no more

A moment later my dining room was before me
Not a trace of blood or a disheveled chair at all
I sat at a table with a pen in my hand a book under my gaze
Scribbled notes upon the pages and a title above the rest

Random Twitter Poem For December 12th

Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

Today the words coalesced for me into a sad poem that puts the reader into the mind of someone trapped in a coma.  This poem was created based on 10 random words provided on twitter by some of my followers.   If you enjoy my poetry please vote for my poem on BlogNetAwards, register and click the # of stars you rate my poetry blog.

The people who submitted and their words are listed below.  Thanks to the following people who contributed today:

@coach_gold (savor)
@azredneck (perishable)
@coyotesqrl (daffy)
@amh615 (impertinence)
@SurfCityJay (gratuitous)
@nipplelicious (comatose)
@blm03 (shopping)
@benjphoto (fractious)
@kcarruthers (vicarious)
@cheth  (swing)

The World Passes Me By

Wake me from this comatose state
My mind can waste away, my body is perishable
Time elapses without a thought
What I would give to savor life
Instead trapped within a dream
In a hospital bed of white linen

You have bestowed such gratuitous care
Thinking of nothing but my well being
This condition an utter impertinence
Our lives scarred while time stands still
I feel you close and feel your despair
Yet unable show the slightest response

I miss the daffy way we danced on the grass
The laughter the joy and even the pain
We used to hold hands and swing them high
Showing the world without a care
I miss the nights spent on white satin
I miss pressing my palm to your face

I want you to move on and not share my fate
Because I am trapped here in this state
You should be out shopping for happiness
Find another to heal your soul and mind
You do not suffer in this vicarious inert state
If I could tell you these things to your face

I would only put you in a fractious frame of mind
You would argue you are here until the end
Arguing would be a blessing a welcome gift
Instead I lie here wondering why
Why you and I both suffer
As the world passes me by

Respect For The Storm

Amused and bewildered by one event in my life
Drinking my coffee one fine summer morning
While feasting on some apple strudel
A clap of thunder from out of nowhere

I quickly grabbed the aglet on the umbrella
I reconfigured the contraption into a closed state
Then as if in conjunction with my activity
Lightning struck the pole in my hands with a glance

As if I were lighter than the air itself
I was flung across the island from the force
My senses feeling as charred as a well done steak
Time seemed to stand still in perpetuity

I recovered to scurry for the nearest shelter
From this day forward I would never forget
How close I came to nature ending my fate
I have gained forever respect for the storm

Random Twitter Poem for December 5th

Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

Today’s twitter poem contest consisted of 9 provided words which are highlighted in blue and were provided by the following 7 people:  @SurfCityJay, @lejonprime, @coyotesqrl, @Ramona_w, @summerbreeze80, @coach_gold, @cheth

We again had some new contributors today and some of my regular contributors, if you want to participate in my Monday through Friday twitter poem creation contest, just contact me on twitter @dragonblogger, and send me a random word on a weekday morning.

Attack On The Outpost

The horrors I have seen when an Apache scalped my mate
and wore his scull cap like a gruesome hat
The soldiers were fighting to defend this outpost
The Indians were too numerous and our forces succumbed

Arrows soaring through the air like rain
There would be no rainbow after this storm
This ramshackle structure was our last hope
We prayed it held up against the onslaught

Then what we least expected came
A solicitation of peace was offered
It was too early for a celebration we warned
But their communication and ruse was a success

They lured out our men with promises of hope
Put down our rifles and sabers they barked
Our men were too desperate to see the truth
When we complied, we were slaughtered like sheep

Random Twitter Poem For December 3rd

Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

Today I was late collecting random words and even later putting the poem together, but I still managed to complete a random poem today.  Today’s poem included 9 random words that were submitted by the following people on twitter:  @summerbreeze80, @craftyGAgal, @sheakoshan, @clowerpower, @doctor_s, @coyotesqrl, @izealove, @doctor_s, @wizard1974uk

A Misunderstanding

A casual conversation turned awry
One misstep in a verbal articulation
Confusion sets in followed by anger

A snippy remark is then cast next
I was Left scrambling unsure how to proceed
Were you being haughty, joking or derisive

You cracked a smile with beguiling intent
A smile that made me feel both alive and dead
An almost vicious grin spanning ear to ear

Were you just playing with my head
Some kind of game with a slip of the tongue
Or is there a meaning behind it all

With an obsequious gesture of good faith
I delivered an apologetic elocution
And expressing how much I appreciate

All of the things you say and do
So let us walk along the waterfront
holding hands and shoulder to shoulder

And put this misunderstanding
To bed forever where it belongs
For love is above such verbal mishaps

Random Twitter Poem For December 3rd

Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

Today’s poem consisted of 8 random words highlighted in blue, words provided by the following people on twitter:  @wizard1974uk, @azredneck, @mebanded, @summerbreeze80, @durtbagz, @cre8nnov8, @SurfCityJay, @craftyGAgal

As always thank you to all people who participate, I really enjoy creating these poems based on your random words.  If you want to participate, just contact me @dragonblogger on twitter on weekdays between 9am and 11am.

The Creature

This beast covered in fur walks like a Sasquatch
It’s appearance brings forth jeers and derision
Farmers and villagers pitch tomatoes, potatoes and peppers
Pelting this beast whom they try to drive off

Some oil soaked torches a spark of flint and steel
combustion occurs, fire to burn the beast
A pitchfork is thrown with spot on accuracy
It pierces the monsters atrial septum

The creature is not harmed but smiling instead
Removing the weapon from its chest it cries out
The wound closes with supernatural regeneration
The monster stares at the crowd with unknown intent

The creature then draws a sudden intake of breath
Out is exhaled a putrid green noxious cloud
That rolls over the farmers like a great morning fog
They realize too late the cloud is an anesthetic

Falling to the ground unaware of their fate
Their limbs and consciousness melt like margarine
Some wonder if they will ever awake again
Then the last man falls and the story might end

Instead eyes open many hours later
People wake up groggy unsure of what happened
The creature harmed nobody it would seem
So maybe the monster was not a monster after all

Random Twitter Poem For December 1st

Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

Today’s random poem came together with a theme about dysfunctional families and six people contributed a total of 8 words which are highlighted in blue (one person submitted 3 words and I decided to use all 3).  Thanks to the following people for providing words today:  @izealove, @wizard1974uk, @jmedvm, @coyotesqrl, @lejonprime, @SurfCityJay

Dysfunctional Family Reunion

A family gathering held but once a year
At a table that serves both chicken and steer

Corpulent people fight over trivial matters
An argument ensue and watermelon splatters

What should be a source of felicity
Instead crumbles to delusional animosity

A shout and a scream as someone pitches a fit
Your mouth filled with water your gurgle and spit

The incumbent member of this household speaks
In an ostentatious display of emotion he shrieks

To some this commotion would draw several tears
But the same gathering occurs year after year

Love them or hate them they are family
And you are a branch that grew onto this tree

-Poem by Dragon Blogger

PS.  If you want to participate, you can Tweet me random words every weekday between 9am and 11am and I will usually be crafting a poem in that general time frame.   Just tweet me @dragonblogger on twitter my friends.

Random Twitter Poem For November 26th

Posted by: dragonblogger    in twitter poems

I had some new contributors today and had a total of 9 random words provided to me from twitter which was the most number of random words so far in a single poem.  The random words are highlighted in blue, I also tried to accomodate some people suggesting a rain theme, dark theme, light theme and blended it all into one poem.  Thanks to the following people for providing me words:  @bteddern,@craftyGAgal, @summerbreeze80, @wizard1974uk, @SurfCityJay, @coyotesqrl, @lejonprime, @Benjphoto, @IntegralChaotic

Wash Away These Troubles

Don’t discount the act of rain
cleansing the skies and your worries away
the wind spiralling the water around you
cast away your umbrellas and be baptized

If you were angry let it be washed away
If you were sad drown your tears in the downpour
Let purity trickle from your fingers
The water cleanses despair from your body

The rain drops an infinite enumeration
Rectify your woes as the water does drought
So enjoy this tryst in the rain
Let it cleanse the boondocks around you

As your mind clears and your spirits soar
surfing through the sky your imagination lifts
as a digital traveler searching through firefox
you find a destination that untangles this web

You blink and awareness sets back in
drenched from head to toe you feel different
no more heavy heart and no more fears
your world is brought back into symmetry
