New Year Dawning – Guest Poem by V. Mahfood

New Year Dawning
The sun rather feebly struggled to shine,
Causing fractions of sky to light up.
Flowers pushed heavy heads out of the soil,
Drunk with sweet water from nature’s own cup.The grass sparkled and glimmered – a carpet of emeralds,
Drops of water reclined on silk petals of rose.
Trickling down to the ground as a gentle, cool breeze,
Spread the heady perfume throughout orchard groves.Birds shook sodden wings and soft feathered heads,
Rejoicing in the golden, warm sunshine.
Their sweet tunes traveled throughout the air,
As they wove their love nests with dried twigs and twine. The sun transformed to a ball of orange flame,
Was merciless soon in its sphere of fierce heat.
Shining in all its supreme glory down,
On the freshly-washed world now ready to greet.      Original poem by V. Mahfood from Coffee Table Poetry

Standing there confident as if full of vanity
like some ominous inanimate mafioso or pirate
with serendipitous clandestine intentions to conquer
pristine uniform the colors of a worn candy cane
olive belt wrapping around your chest like garland
quickly you lineate your sword scabbard
the regal Prince of Denmark approaches
salute automatically triggers as you express respect
commitment as if you were defending Bethlehem herself
yet he passes you without the slightest rapport
and your salute as meaningful as a moo from a cow
secretly cursing him a navigational mishap
you resume your post with a slight fatigue
simple acceptance of the hunger induced borborygmus
serendipity soon to be found with the end of your shift
no thesis of interest will ever be written you reckon

Political Trust – Random Twitter Poem for Dec 1st

Political Trust is a poem about the cut throat savage nature of politicians (at least the stereotype). It speaks of the two faced nature of publicly being friendly only to savagely steal someones chair or seat. Inspired by the 12 random words provided by the following twitter followers:
@yellow0211 (trust), @urbancrafter (calumny), @Jan_Geronimo (disembowel), @blusol (progressive), @LilPecan (ancillary), @Sarah_Bush (effervescent), @cupcakes5 (pleasantries), @buddawiggi (mahalo), @purple_froggy (postal), @Heerlijktaartje (stardust), @elizasea (maudlin), @barbehr (incredulous)[powerpress image="http://www.wandererthoughts.com/images/wandererthoughts300.jpg"]
Political Trust
Effervescent incredulous stardust pleasantries
hiding behind vicious verbal calumny
intention to politically disembowel
ancillary maudlin speakers fall prey
as progressive agendas rise and fall
postal greetings sent by the unfriendly
seats dry without the slightest mahalo
there is no trust with politicians-Poem by Dragon Blogger

A Broken World
Arsonist visions in a world on water
decisions charred like a used up match
pleasant formalities greedily exchanged
somewhere hostility meets tolerance
and the world assumes all is right
only to be filled with lies and illusions
we just don’t know any better-Poem by Dragon Blogger
