Winter Games brings memories of getting into snowball fights and sledding around in the snow. Living in the Arizona desert for the past fifteen years I have not had a good snowball fight in so long I nearly forget what its like. Today’s poem was inspired by the 16 random words (in blue) provided by the following twitter players today.

Typical winter demographic
storm of pure happenstance
wrapping children in layers
a lover of frolic and games
happy as a donkey in a hayfield
coherency lost in dandy laughter
mighty battles test tiny courage
weapons of snow collide with bodies
feeling like a soft cudgel strike
your position betwixt two teams
snowballs cast in prestigious abligurition
icy peanut sized shrapnel sprays outward
humbleness displayed at being defeated
the insouciant winter games continue

Thaw Out

An egotistical lingering ice storm overhead
a flirt with abnormally high temperatures
temporary abduction of winter’s bitter cold
fluttering of branches as leaves shed weight
discarded snowballs the size of a coconut
the frozen winter treat liquefied rapidly
icicles melt and splinter while falling
dripping nebular water like dirty cream
scalable runoff racing in conspiracy
the road transfigured into tablature
sophisticated furor over the timing
a quandary over the cleanup ensues
kids mumble over returning to school
a ski franchise braces for a dive
as everything starts to thaw out
