Initiation online – Guest Poem by Zorlone

Initiation online

I venture into cyberspace,
where my weapon is my mind.
The enemy is my solace,
a venture to a land unkind.

Sweet remedy to necessities,
in this growing time I desire.
Allied bloggers are my power fifty,
through a dark interface – words set afire.

The engine searches treasures,
that I tag for them to find.
My reward – grateful immortality. Measures,
the right link left behind.

In my war of man and machine,
this surreal intrepid place.
Sacrifice this willful stream,
friendly smiles beyond disgrace.

I venture into cyberspace,
brave and bold heavily written on my face.

First Poetry Collaboration with Zorlone

Collaborative Poems
25 Aug 2009

Zorlone and I collaborated on a poem together where we did an email exchange each writing a line of the poem and continuing to take turns until the poem was finished. This poem came out as the result of our first poetry collaboration, and I think it turned out nicely.

See if you can guess which lines were written by Dragonblogger and which were written by Zorlone.

At The Break of Dawn

Dark skies mirror the shadows in my soul
but moonbeams penetrate sanity into my heart

A war of worlds beats within my chest
like hummingbirds in a springtime of sweethearts.

As the bitter cold bites my skin, I know now what I must do
seek comfort in the warmth of a long forsaken memory

Return from banishment and claim the priests daughter
for I shall never be exiled with the curse of Catullus and Propertius elegies.

I made haste, preparing for a destiny forged by my own hands
this castle of serenity, soon to become an icon of my tortured past

At dawn, I faced my foes and fears at once
breaking each spell, this sorcerer’s force came but was squashed.

When at last her heart and hand were won
These darkened skies succinctly rested and its pieces – torn.

My Random twitter poem “Late Afternoon Nightmare” managed to take the top spot and was up against fierce competition with Roy’s excellent “Unpoetic” and Zorlone’s “Blank Page” rounding out the top 3.  Zorlone and Roy both took 2 out of the 5 top spots this week.  I was really proud of Late Afternoon Nightmare, as I was given a wide array of words and one of my favorite sentences I have ever written was incorporated into this poem.
