The Broken

Kittens they say bring a smile
Puppies laughter of angels
Babies melt hearts like warm butter
Yet I am woefully unfazed

Was there anger in my heart
Or malice in the corners of my mind
A hole of emotion, void of compassion
or simply maybe I am just blind

Love is lost on those like me
Meaning of life a puzzle with no pieces
We walk alone in our solemn curse
Unaware that there is more than this

We are vulnerable to a fault
Yet unable to display an emotion
So walled up and afraid to feel
Hiding from wounds that may never heal
