I decided to read this poem aloud and make it an audio poem as well, for those who want to listen to the poem click on the play button above.
Today’s random twitter poem is about an easter egg hunt and the family reflecting on it, from the point of view of the children to the parents, it is inspired by my own two little boys who will probably feel the same way on Sunday. Thanks to the following people for tweeting the 9 random words used today (in blue):
@Zorlone (humbled), @shemah (hairspray), @PlotDog (frustration), @jollything (Catalog), @bunnykins2 (Anime), @stnmoon (Home), @kikolani (precipice), @Miragi (reminiscent), @wizzardsblog (miscommunication)
The Egg Hunt
Barely sunrise on this warm spring day
Eager children watching Sunday morning Anime
Frustration rising as they wait for the hunt
Would the eggs be hidden out back or up front?
The catalog of eggs just waiting to be found
Searching for candy and chocolate like a bloodhound
The home stirs from the morning noise
Of hyperactive and eager little boys
An outsider would be humbled by this
A family event you wouldn’t want to miss
These memories reminiscent of your own childhood
Back then the word seemed so simple and good
Like the hissing sound of a used can of hairspray
The back door slides open as they rush out to play
The children pause to make sure it wasn’t a miscommunication
Then they begin the hunt with excited yet controlled concentration
Eggs are finally found, at first just a few
Red and yellow, with shades of purple and blue
One more just found on the precipice of a door frame
Kids laugh, jest and skip as the continue the frantic game
As this festival lasts for several hours
You sit back, reflect and thank the powers
For everyone being so happy and silly
and that you have such a lovely family
